Meet Our IPD Sponsors
As a PVF person in a plumbing-dominated industry, do you sometimes feel you have to dig a little deeper, or climb a little higher to find the programs and services that speak directly to you in the industrial and mechanical PVF business?
In reality, you don’t. Take a breather and get to know ASA’s Industrial Piping Division (IPD).
The IPD knows that industrial and mechanical PVF is not the same business as plumbing. IPD knows your business involves different products, different pressures and temperatures, different applications, different customers and different ways of going to market. IPD is attuned to those differences and dedicated to specifics of the industrial PVF business.
This special interest group within the American Supply Association is comprised of ASA member firms whose business is predominately in the distribution or manufacture of industrial and mechanical pipe, valves, fittings and allied supplies. The IPD takes ASA’s four major values (networking, education, benchmarking, advocacy) and brings the focus onto the unique needs of industrial and mechanical PVF distributors and manufacturers through:
- Practical information to help you increase operational productivity and profits.
- Meetings and workshops that address the issues affecting your business.
- Opportunities to interact with suppliers and to network with fellow PVF colleagues from across the country.Information on the latest trends and issues, with a forum in which to discuss possible solutions.
Take a look at the 2007 ASA IPD Membership Roster to see which companies are taking advantage of all the benefits available through their membership.

DOT Gas Gathering Rule Seminar Slated Natural gas producers and gatherers are facing a new regulatory environment, known as “The Gathering Rule." This rule (49 CFR Part 192, as published by the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration) brings a higher level of scrutiny and regulatory compliance to low-pressure gathering pipe throughout the U.S. The deadlines for complying with the rule are fast approaching, and
EMS Group
, recognized as a pipeline industry leader, will be hosting the second in a series of all-day seminars on this subject in Houston on September 18. Attendees will hear from industry leaders about key initiatives undertaken to achieve compliance. In addition, regulatory agency representatives will discuss the meaning of the Rule, its specific requirements and the compliance process. They also will review best practices for identifying gathering lines, preparing documentation, and reporting.

ITC Votes To Continue Chinese Welded Pipe Investigations The U.S. International Trade Commission determined July 20 that there is a reasonable indication that a U.S. industry is materially injured or threatened with material injury by reason of imports of circular welded carbon-quality steel pipe from China that are allegedly sold in the United States at less than fair value.
As a result of the Commission's affirmative determinations, the U.S. Department of Commerce will continue to conduct its investigations of imports of this product from China, with its preliminary countervailing duty determination due on or about August 31, 2007, and its preliminary anti-dumping determination due on or about November 14, 2007. The Wages Of Sin Tyco International reported a $3.55 billion loss for the third quarter as it pays for lawsuits and breakup costs tied to its convicted former CEO Dennis Kozlowski. Double-length Pipe Is A Pain, Except ...
Chicago's Porter Pipe & Supply Co.
devotes precious warehouse space to stocking 42' lengths of pipe. It's a pain in the anatomy to deal with from a trucking, handling and storage perspective. The only saving grace is contractor customers love it! Because it saves them much labor.
